It's Thursday again! I must say that I love looking for interesting people to talk about! This week we are going to talk about a man who is uber famous. Although he doesn't owe his career to big book to movie adaptations, he still has several of them on his resume!
So I give you all... Brad Pitt!
Born: William Bradly Pitt ( um, swoon! )
DOB: December 18, 1963
Born: Shawnee Oklahoma
Because of the amount of movies he has starred in I just want to focus on his book to movies...
In 1994, Interview With a Vampire was Pitt's first book to movie adaptation and it is one of my favorite movies he has ever been in. We got to see him star opposite Tom Cruise who played the vampire Lestat and Pitt played the wonderfully tortured Louis.
"Fame makes you feel permanently like a girl walking past construction workers" -Brad Pitt
In 1996, Pitt was in the all star cast of the movie Sleepers based on the crime drama thriller book by Lorenzo Carcaterra.
The year 1999 brought Pitt a movie that was an instant cult classic and to this day is still quoted all over the place. Fight Club was based on the book by Chuck Palahniuk. The book and movie are both a drama that focuses on a man who is tired of his upper middle class American lifestyle and searches for change in the crazy man that is Tyler Durden.
Pitt actually tore his Achilles tendon during the production of Troy...IRONY
In 2007 Pitt helped bring F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to the big screen. The story is about a man who lives life in reverse.
In 2011 Pitt starred in the mega hit movie based on a book by Michael Lewis called, Moneyball. The story is about a man who wants to take a below average baseball team and make them great.
In 2013 Pitt is set to be in another cult hit book to movie adaptation in World War Z. The story takes first hand accounts of how they lived though the Zombie war and the lengths that they went through in order to survive. The book is a chronicle of sorts that takes you from the first outbreak to the aftermath of how the world is now in. I have high hopes for this movie and can not wait to see Pitt and the role he plays in it.
I hope that this has gotten you to think about books that you have not thought about in a while or maybe it will get you interested in something new that you have not read! Either way, we see how books continue to bring life to so many things. Happy Thursday to you all!
And like always.... Just for fun!

Him, playing Achilles ... oh shoot, what was saying? Hee Hee!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! He couldn't ask for a better lineup of his work. : )
Thanks Amy! Everytime I think of or watch Troy, I always think of the Dark Hunter book with Danger and Alexion and Danger is watching Troy. Alexion is all confussed because they are speaking with Brittish accents! Ahahahaha!
DeleteI still think it is crazy that he pulled his Achilles tendon while filming, what are the freaking odds???
Lisa what a wonderful choice of the male species to do a Talking About feature on. I love, love, love Brad. Not only is he absolutely swoon worthy and a joy to look at, he's also a wonderful actor. I love his work, loved him in Interview with a Vampire. I also enjoyed him in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Troy, but I have to say I loved the character he played in The Ocean films opposite George Clooney. Those two rocked those movies together, and just work wonderful together. No wonder they are such good friends.
ReplyDeleteMarcie! Oceans 11 is one of my favorite movies ever! I love him in that movie, he is so funny!!! I watch it every time it is on TV.
DeleteI am actually looking forward to World War Z, I read that book and it scared the crap out of me but it was a good book. I am excited to see how Brad Pitt does in it.
It's hard not to like Brad Pitt, but I swear I try! :D I'm not the biggest fan. I'm going to be petty and say it really, truly stems from his relationship with Angelina Jolie. I found it very disgraceful to leave Jennifer Aniston like that; and to hear BOTH of them describe falling in love on the set of Mrs. and Mrs. Smith (which I refuse to watch to this day!). How very nice for THEIR family. Yeah, I was married to this one woman and then I left her for your mommy. UGH. But I'm also an admitted hypocrite. Some people just rub me the wrong way. Who's judgmental? :D
ReplyDeleteHaving said all that....I have never loved Brad Pitt more than when he played Tristan in Legends of the Fall. Good God, I loved him in that!!!! He's also truly wonderful in the Oceans movies. Working opposite George Clooney just makes everyone better, does it not? LOL. And of course Fight Club!!!!! He was excellent in that!!!
And while Interview with a Vampire was not my favorite, I thought Pitt played a good Louis. He also had a GREAT albeit tiny role in True Romance by Tony Scott. Gary Oldman's cameo is also superb in it. Sorry....went somewhere else...Brad Pitt's also a philanthropist and I can't hate that. ;)
Legends of the fall...LOVE THAT MOVIE! He is so swoon-worthy, I was so bumbed to find out that is wasnt a book.
DeleteThis was an excellent post Lisa.. I like how you focused on the books, keeping the theme book related... Hot guys that star in movies made from books.. *grins*
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that right? Maybe we can get people reading new books...just a thought.
DeleteGreat job Lisa! My favorite part was the comment that his grandpa made. That sounds like something my grandma would say. I have to agree with the comment above about not being his biggest fan because of his relationship past, but I guess everyone makes mistakes.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job putting together his work. Nice pics and timeline of movies.
AH! Hey thanks! Um, who is this? ahahaha
DeleteReally good Lisa. I also am not a big Brad Pitt fan but he is a really good actor. I am more a George Clooney kind of gal. LOL He is very handsome I will grant you that
ReplyDeleteI will keep Mr.Clooney in mind Fran :)
DeleteLOVE IT TWIN! FANTASTIC JOB!

ReplyDeleteThanks twin! Cant wait to see what you think about tomorrows post!
DeleteI am really excited.. as usual Lisa has done a fantastic job!
Delete*blushes*
DeleteLoved reading this post! Love Brad Pitt in pretty much anything. He was so good in Moneyball. Fight Club is one of my favorite movies and who could resist Tristan! I ache when I see that movie. As for Carmen's comments I say the heart wants what the heart wants - LOL! I joke. Thanks for all the great pics and the book to movie timeline! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteHey Lygia! Thanks so much! I didn't think about how much people would hate Brad because of his past with you know who. Oh well! I just thought about how hott he was/is! Hey I have a one track mind ;)
DeleteCome by tomorrow! It is going to be a good one! I promsie!
Lisa, remember I told you I was reconnecting with my college BFF??? That's Lygia!!! ;)
DeleteHolla! Welcome Lygia! I hope you enjoy our play ground ;)
DeleteWelcome Lygia!! Happy to meet you.. I look forward to hearing your opinions and observations
DeleteI know what you're saying, and can I say how HAPPY it makes me to see you on HERE! ;), and they've obviously made good on their relationship. Ultimately, if they stay together, good for them! ;)
ReplyDeleteOne has to wonder.. It was always assumed that Brad and Angie were the bad guys and yet.. looking back?? I guess what it comes down to is it's their business and if they can raise those beautiful children to be happy, well adjusted productive members of society.. then who are we to judge
