Easy, A Review

Easy, by Tammara Webber, is a novel in the Mature Young Adult and New Adult Section. My sister happened to find this book and tell me about it. After reading the synopsis, I immediately went to the Barnes and Noble website and bought the e-book of it. I just knew that this was going to be a book that I would consume, and I was right. The writing style of Tammara Webber is fresh and current and wonderfully romantic.

Jacqueline fell in love in high school which led her to committing every parents worse nightmare, she followed her boyfriend to college. Jacqueline was a very promising student in the standing up bass. She could have gone to a school for music but she let love guide her.

Now she is at a state school in her sophomore year with a broken heart and almost no friends. Her boyfriend broke up with her so he could "sew some wild oats" and he didn't want to cheat on her to do it. How gallant, right? ( <--- insert sarcasm ) Two weeks after getting dumped Jacqueline has finally come to the conclusion that her ex really meant what he said while seeing him at a frat party all over a lot of girls.

After nearly running away from the party Jacqueline fails to notice that she was followed out of the party. When someone she thought was a friend tries to force himself on an unwilling Jacqueline, her whole life changes.

She is saved by a guy she has never seen before and she knows that she would remember because he is so sexy! The way he defeats her attacker means that he knows how to fight. The way he looks at her with eyes so intense makes her feel alive. You can imagine how shocked Jacqueline was to find out on Monday morning that he is in her economics class.

Jacqueline quickly realizes that these past two weeks of mourning have put her in an almost failing position in her econ class. Plus she must have been blind to miss the fact the Lucas has been in her class all semester. It is like her eyes have been opened to all of the things that she has been missing in college. A good rebound is exactly what she needs. A nice and easy thing to accomplish with the resident bad boy, right?

This is a story about a girl who thought she knew exactly how her life was going to turn out and finds that nothing is as she planned. And, it is about a boy who has more secrets than the Pentagon and doesn't really know how to trust anyone. He is afraid to let anyone in and risk his heart.

Read this book! It is truly a sweet love story that will have you talking about it with everyone you know. It will leave you smiling like an idiot. I could not put this book down. From the moment I started reading it I knew that I would be getting no sleep until I was done. I thought that my husband was going to murder me, I was reading at any available moment. Trust me when I say you need to read this book. Oh, it is so wonderful. A Must Read Indeed!

Happy Reading

Lisa :)

  1. Thank you for the endorsement. I'm into Fantasy YA but not really on Contemporary YA but I'll make an exception for this one. I've seen this a lot and I'm truly intrigued by the synopsis.

  6. Really loved this one. College set romance with some pretty heavy themes - the heroine, Jacqueline, is nearly raped during the first scene and it's not just an excuse for the romantic interest, Lucas, to make a suitably heroic entrance. Jacqueline has to deal with the emotional fallout of her assault for the rest of the book, when she suffers because the guy who tried to rape her spreads rumors that she's "easy" or when she decides to sign up for self-defense classes, which she goes to consistently and have a refreshingly empowering effect.

At first I wondered if Jacqueline was going to be one of those heroines who gets lots of male attention for no good reason. She's got this All American Mr. Perfect ex-boyfriend, Kennedy (handsome, good student, popular in his fraternity, rich), she's got her econ tutor on the hook, and then there's blue-collar perfection Lucas. But the deeper you get into the story, the clearer it is that Jacqueline is a wonderful person. She's mature, studious, a good friend, a good partner...she has flaws, and the fear and shame she feels after the assault damage her confidence, but she's the kind of girl where you actually think BETTER of the guys around her for being interested. Clearly, they've got good taste.
